The snow started to fall at 10pm the night before, and I sat in front of the window watching it fall. It got me thinking about how much I'd love to shoot a snowy winter wedding, and how much of a shame it was that we'd not be able to find anybody to model in this snow for us before it all melted away the next day.

And then it hit me - why don't we just raid our own wardrobe, go out there in the morning and take some wedding pictures ourselves.. self-portrait style!

My last wedding of 2014 was a really exciting and unique one, with the lovely Grant & Lucy getting married on the holy island of Lindisfarne, off the north east coast. One of the best things about being a wedding photographer is having the opportunity to travel all over the place and this day was no exception to that!

Elly Lucas at E.L. Hitched had kindly asked if I'd like to help photograph this day with her and of course the answer was a resounding yes! Getting from where I am based in Bedford to all the way up north to Lindisfarne was by no means a short journey but it was one thousand percent worth it and more as the incredible landscape unfolded before us as we drove across the country.

After a beautiful, thoughtful ceremony on the island (which ended in Grant & Lucy dancing down the aisle to Pharrell Williams' Happy!), we all headed off to the jaw-droppingly stunning Alnwick Gardens back on the mainland. With its amazing architectural gardens and incredible after-dark light show, it was the perfect place to celebrate. Congratulations Grant & Lucy - it really was a privilege to be a part of your day.

Today is my first day back at work after the Christmas break and I am just so excited to throw myself back into the madness! 2015 is a really exciting year for our wedding business and we are just so honoured to have so many wonderful brides & grooms in our calendar for this year. We can't wait for your weddings!

We've got lots planned for the year.. start doing more inspirational styled shoots with fellow wedding vendors, find the best possible album suppliers so we can add albums to our packages and as always continually add lots of lovely new weddings to our blog & site to name but a few. Watch this space!

Helen & Andrew: Lake District Festival Wedding

Back in August, Elly from E.L Hitched asked if I fancied coming along to photograph a festival wedding with her in the Lake District... well, to put it simply there was no way I was going to turn that offer down!

Helen & Andrew's wedding took place in two incredible venues: the beautiful Lancaster Cathedral and in the Lake District, where they created their very own WedFest, featuring a massive tipi for their celebrations and a village of bell tents for their guests to stay in. Amazing!

With a tug of war (won by the bride's team!), a ceilidh band, camping for everybody and incredible food, they really had thought of everything and the day was just non-stop fun from start to finish.

And to top it all off, their wonderful day was featured in my all time favourite wedding blog, Love My Dress, which you can take a peek at HERE. Congratulations Helen & Andrew, thank you so much for having us as part of your day and I wish you every happiness for the future!
