Elisabeth & Simon: Blissful Summer Wedding at Woburn Sculpture Gallery

Elisabeth & Simon’s wedding day started off very close to home for me as the church they married in was less than a 5-minute drive away! It’s always lovely shooting in my home town and their day was of course no exception.

On the run up to the day, I always ask couples about any particular details that are important for us to capture. I’m always a girl for detail photos, but knowing the context is always important and I hear so many wonderful stories as a result! Elisabeth had chosen a beautiful satin Justin Alexander dress with a statement bow on the back for her wedding day, but the most important detail of all was the top she paired with it. She told me that her talented mother had made it from scratch, made from sheer organza adorned with lace. I love touches like this and it made her outfit all the more special.

We headed to St Andrew’s Church in Bedford for their ceremony which featured singing from her choir friends, a truly lovely touch which made it even more joyful and emotional! One of my favourite shots has to be Simon and his dad laughing aloud as they wait for the ceremony to start. It’s always stuck in my mind when I think of this day and it was lovely to see it again whilst choosing photos for this blog post.

The Sculpture Gallery in Woburn Abbey hosted the celebrations for the rest of the day. It’s one of my favourite venues and it was such a joy to return after Alex & Dean’s day just a few months prior. The gallery looked gorgeous with pink roses and white hydrangeas on the tables setting the scene for dinner and speeches later on.

A beautiful golden hour got us out and exploring the gardens after dinner, and as night approached the Pasadena Roof Orchestra took centre stage for Elisabeth & Simon to start the evening celebrations with their first dance.

Thank you both for having us photograph your incredible day! We loved every moment. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the Sculpture Gallery opens its doors again one day soon for more magical days like yours.

We are both so happy with our photos, there are so many we will treasure forever. We both loved seeing all the moments from each others mornings as well. They were all absolutely worth the wait and have brought back so many happy memories of our day!

Hannah & Gerard: Summer Outdoor Marquee Wedding in Bedfordshire

Early June gave us Hannah & Gerard’s gorgeous wedding day, and a never ending supply of sunshine to go with it too! With their ceremony at a local church in Silsoe and the reception in a marquee on Gerard’s family farmland, their day was personal and lovely through and through.

Hannah looked gorgeous in her dress which featured eye-catching lace appliqued around the waist, her hair in a chic updo and carrying a bouquet of white peonies, purple roses and clematis. Gerard looked smart in a navy blue wool jacket which he paired with grey chinos and brown boots.

A classic red London bus took Hannah and bridesmaids to the little church in Silsoe where they held their ceremony. Her proud mum walked her down the aisle and I just loved the way she beamed when she met Gerard at the altar.

Their friends and family showered them with confetti as they started their married life, and everyone hopped aboard the bus to head to the marquee.

From homemade signs of their favourite quotes to a cute little basket inviting guests to feed the family sheep, before we’d even got to the marquee it was clear they had thought of every little detail. The marquee was decorated by the fabulous Gemma at The White Emporium, with lilac lanterns hanging from the ceiling and potted lavender and herbs along the tables.

Upon arrival guests enjoyed welcome drinks, canapes and plenty of garden games which were met with lots of enthusiasm. A particularly animated game of tug-of-war brought out everyone's competitive side – well done to Team Bride for clinching the win!

After dinner we enjoyed lots of fantastic speeches, the highlights of course being Hannah’s (I’m always thrilled when a bride does a speech!) and Gerard who kicked his off by shouting into a microphone: “WE’RE F***ING MARRIED!”. Lots of cheers and applause ensued!

The evening celebrations continued with the bride and groom taking to the dancefloor and kicking off the party with an upbeat first dance to a Beatles song. We loved their day from start to finish and it was such a joy to capture. Congratulations Hannah & Gerard and thank you for having us there for the ride!

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the photos. They’re amazing and we’re pleased with them. You captured some amazing moments. Thank you thank you.

Beth & Shane: Rustic Wedding at The Barns at Hunsbury Hill, Northampton

If I had to choose one wedding that made me tear up the most it would probably be this one! Together since they were at school, Beth & Shane got married on a sunny August after 10 years together.

Their day stated with a lovely church ceremony in Great Doddington, with tears before it even began as beautiful Beth walked down the aisle, wowing in her Ellis Bridals dress. The photo of them both tearing up as she arrived at the end of the aisle has got to be one of my favourites of the whole year!

I love how detail-driven Beth was in planning her wedding décor – she is a girl after my own heart! With a mix of DIY items and hire from my favourite lady Gemma at The White Emporium, the Barns at Hunsbury Hill was filled with rustic gorgeousness from top to toe. And my favourite bit: space hoppers on the lawn!

Their wedding breakfast was a classic english roast with a twist: friends and family carving it themselves at the tables, which was an absolute hit with their guests.

That evening we were treated to an incredible golden hour before the sun set and their first dance began. They surprised their parents by playing their first dance songs, which was a really lovely touch that I’ve never seen before in all the weddings I’ve photographed!

Our wedding day was genuinely the best day of our lives and being able to re-live it through the photos has been amazing. It was honestly an absolute pleasure to have you as our wedding photographer - it was simply one of the best decisions we made and we are over the moon with the photos! So thank you again, you really are such a talented lady.

Lizzy & John: Summer Marquee Wedding at Dunstall Lodge Farm

If I had to describe Lizzy & John’s day in three words I’d simply have to say: so much joy. I felt so welcomed into her parents home in the morning and their entire day was non-stop fun from start to finish.

Lizzie’s bridal look was beautiful with her lace dress and bouquet of greenery, pink and peach, but added a little funky edge with a gorgeous headpiece and awesome silver cowboy boots!

They held their wedding at a family friends’ farm, with their ceremony taking place in the courtyard, officiated by the lovely Jo at My Perfect Ceremony under an arch of greenery. Lizzy beamed as she walked down the aisle with her dad, and her and John’s ridiculously cute son made an excellent ring bearer! There wasn’t a dry eye as her two bridesmaids gave readings, and they left under a tunnel of confetti with bubbles for the kids. So much fun!

Everyone enjoyed a buffet wedding breakfast surrounded by rustic decoration of pompoms, jam jar flowers and fairy lights. The best part about the farm location of their day was the almost unlimited selection of backdrops to shoot! We couldn’t resist getting some pictures with a tractor, and of course on the hay bales. We were lucky enough to get a gorgeous golden hour before sunset, and we sat in the hay taking photographs.

Laura & Ryan: Marquee Wedding at Chiddingstone Castle, Kent

I’m always so honoured when someone recommends me to a future bride & groom.. but when that someone is a photographer even more so! Bride Laura’s sister Jodie is a photographer, so to have her recommend me meant a great deal.

First things first, how gorgeous is Laura’s Jenny Packham dress?! I’m just obsessed with the elegant embellishment on the shoulders and waist, and she looked like a Grecian goddess. She arrived at the ceremony in her dad’s teal hot rod - one of the most unique wedding cars I’ve ever seen in it’s stunning bright turquoise colour!

Although rain moved their ceremony from outside by the orangery to inside the castle, it didn’t stop them from having a wonderful ceremony (with a few tears from friends and family thrown in for good measure!)

Luckily the rain held off long enough for the all-important confetti shot. Laura asked me what they needed to do to get a great confetti shot and my advice is always the same.. buy lots and lots of it and we'll organise the rest! I always recommend you just get a big basket of it so your guests can grab big handfuls.

The décor for their wedding breakfast was gold and olive green, with succulent terrariums and trailing greenery everywhere you looked. I just loved the place settings: leaves with the guests’ names written on in beautiful calligraphy.

Their evening began not with a cake cut but something a little different.. bespoke cocktails and a donut wall! I love this modern alternative to a wedding cake and the guests loved it too. We left them to dance the night away to a fantastic band back in the stunning setting of the castle, a fantastic way to end their day.

Dress: Jenny Packham
Suits: Moss Bros
Flowers: Johnny’s Little Sister Florist
Hair & makeup: Making Up The Bride

Thank you so much, we both absolutely love these and it made me cry with happiness looking through them just now! Reliving all the lovely memories from the day, you’ve captured these beautifully. We’ve sent some on to close family and friends already and they love them too, and I’ve already updated my Facebook pic!
