Steph & Owen: Rustic Pastel Wedding at Bassmead Manor Barns

Returning to Bassmead Manor Barns is always wonderful - it is such a fab venue and is so versatile to each couple's wedding style! Steph & Owen chose a pastel, vintage look for their big day, with pinks, purples and white hues in their flowers and rustic hessian decorations.

Steph's two lovely bridesmaids and niece and nephew lead the way into their wedding ceremony in the Rickety Barn. One of the nicest parts of my job when standing at the front of a wedding ceremony is seeing the faces of the closest friends and family of a bride and groom as they say their vows - there is always so much love in the room and Steph & Owen's big day was no different!

They left their ceremony under a cloud of confetti, and we were so fortunate to have the beautiful roses by the manor in full bloom for their photographs. After this quiet moment together, they returned for their wedding breakfast to a round of applause from everyone they love.

Their evening was a wonderfully relaxed affair with a lovely chunk of silliness thrown in to the mix, with a magician there to entertain everybody and lots of selfie props for fab photos. They danced their first dance under pink lights, and we left everybody to dance the night away.

Thank you so much Steph & Owen! Your day was a joy to photograph and I wish you every happiness for the future.

"Thank you so much for our photos, it was a pleasure having you both there and I'm honestly blown away by what we have received in our album. They are truly fabulous and absolutely perfect - you are both very talented and I couldn't have wished for more!" - Steph & Owen

Christina & Matt: Shuttleworth Mansion House Wedding

What I love about the Shuttleworth Mansion House is that it always offers a beautiful Plan B in case of rain, and that is exactly what we needed on Christina & Matt's beautiful wedding day. Their ceremony was originally planned for the outdoor Garden Room, but we were so lucky to have the gorgeous Billiard Room as the indoor option when it started to rain and it just looked stunning!

Their small, intimate ceremony was wonderful and there wasn't a dry eye in the room (including the ones behind my camera!). I just love the way they look at each other and their faces as they walked back down the aisle!

We were so lucky in that the rain held up for just enough time after the ceremony for confetti, family photos & portraits, right down to the minute as we ended up having to walk back to the house under umbrellas as the rain poured down. Eek!

Their first dance took place on the sparkliest light up dance floor, and then everybody headed outside for a spectacular firework display - the perfect way to end the night.

Congratulations Christina & Matt! Wonderful couples like you make this the best job in the world.

"My wife and I have been impressed with Cat ever since our first conversation. She is a
true professional and clearly loves her work. Her portfolio is breathtakingly good and we are
happy to say our wedding photos are equally as impressive. Every request we made had
been fulfilled without hesitation. Cat truly captured the essence of our big day and every
time we have looked through our photos it is like reliving our day again and again!"

2016: thank you for a wonderful year

I'm sat in lovely Gloucester right now for Christmas, and I'm so happy to sit here with a good cup of coffee and look back upon everything that has happened this year, and it's been a busy one!

It’s been a difficult year in my personal life but photographing weddings has brought me joy, support, love and friendship and for that I cannot be more grateful. So let's look back at 2016...

25 wonderful weddings..

..or 40 if you include second shooting! The most wonderful thing about this year, and every year, is that I’ve had the great privilege of photographing so many fabulous weddings and the stories behind them. And it’s not just about the shooting – I just love getting to know these fab couples as part of the process. I love how every wedding is different and unique, reflecting who these couples are and most importantly, celebrating their love with everybody who has a place in their heart.

2 awards.. and one Finalist!

The year started off with a bang with winning the Bedfordshire Businesswomen Young Achiever Award in January! It was such an honour to win an award amongst so many inspiring women in the my business community.

November brought along the Four Counties Wedding Awards, a great evening out at Knebworth House where I found out I’d won the “One To Watch” award in the photographer category! It was a great night out with so many of my friends in the industry, and I’m so proud of what we have all achieved this year.

And last but not least, wonderful feedback & comments from my couples landed me a place as finalist for Best Photographer in East of England in the prestigious TWIA Awards. A huge honour, and even better was receiving the feedback my couples had left after the awards were over – something I am eternally grateful for.

Features

Blog features in Rock My Wedding, Rock N Roll Bride, Whimsical Wonderland Weddings, Festival Brides, and So You’re Getting Married were a big highlights of my year, and hopefully for my couples whose weddings were featured also! To be able to share a wedding to inspire future brides is always a big honour and I’m so thrilled to have worked with so many great blogs this year. And more are in the works for 2017!

I was also fortunate enough to get a cover on Your Herts & Beds Wedding magazine and a spot on their recent feature of A-Z of wedding photography, sharing my advice alongside other photographers regarding all things wedding photography with future brides & grooms.

Collaborating

2016 saw a record of 4 styled shoots (I still can’t believe I managed to fit that many in!) I feel so privileged to not only meet and work with so many talented wedding suppliers, but to also count many among my friends as well. Our efforts have seen our images published both online and in print, and I hope our photos have inspired brides to do something a little different with their day.

So thank you..

..from the bottom of my heart to every bride, groom, wedding supplier, friend, and family member for your support, inspiration and friendship. Being a wedding photographer is my dream job and I still can’t believe I get to do this for a job every single day. Thank you.

With love,

Cat

Anna & Joe: Waverton Church & Harthill Weddings Marquee Wedding

I always say that I’ll travel wherever I am needed for weddings, and this time Anna & Joe’s gorgeous day took us up north to Chester! Lovely Anna spent the morning getting ready at her parents’ beautiful home, and I just can’t put into words just how lovely everybody was and how well looked after I felt! Meeting wonderful people is one of the many things that makes being a wedding photographer the best job in the world, and Anna & Joe’s family and friends were no exception.

Vibrant pinks, purples and blues decorated their wedding day, with flowers made by a family friend and Anna’s bridesmaids wearing a gorgeous shade of blue. I just love the Sally Lacock dress that Anna chose – it was just beautifully simple and elegant, and looked so comfortable too.

Their ceremony was held at Waverton church, and the weather only just held on until they stepped out into confetti in the pouring rain! I love couples that just go with the flow and that is exactly what Anna & Joe did – just look at those smiles as they head to their London bus under an umbrella!

A marquee at Harthill Weddings in Burwardsley made the perfect blank canvas for their day, which they filled with rustic decorations, urns of flowers and the most gorgeous table plan made from a picnic basket with hydrangeas spilling out of it. Love it.

As the sun set, we couldn’t resist grabbing a silhouetted photo outdoors with all the bell jars and fairy lights they set up along the staircase, before leaving everybody to dance the night away to a fabulous band. Congratulations Anna & Joe! I loved your day.

“We were absolutely delighted we asked Cat to be our wedding photographer - both because of how she was on the day and the photos she took. Her communications in advance was great, and she did everything she said she would, and more on the day. We hardly noticed her on the day (in a good way!) but expertly manoeuvred our guests to get the photos we wanted. The pictures she took were beautiful and absolutely captured every moment in the style we hoped for. we couldn’t have been happier!” - Anna & Joe

Jess & Graham: Rainy Tipi Wedding in Wing, Buckinghamshire

Honesty time: I think I nearly squealed with happiness when I saw Jess's bridal outfit hanging up as I arrived - sparkly bridal separates! She paired a sequinned top with a white skirt, and suede Aquazzura heels for a comfortable yet gorgeous bridal look. I love couples who plan their wedding day to suit them, and her look really illustrated the way they approached their big day.

The day started with everybody heading out in a convoy of red, blue and white classic convertibles to their church in Wing. They enjoyed a lovely, relaxed ceremony, and just as we all left the heavens opened, but this of course didn't stop everybody grabbing ice cream from Elsie's Ices on the way out!

They held their celebrations at Jess's grandparents' farm, a place dear to her heart. Their venue was three fab tipis, decorated in aqua and blue lanterns and honeycomb balls, with each table named after a classic car. I especially fell in love with their beautiful hand-painted table plan and signs, generously created for them by a friend and decorated with blue painted flowers.

In between rain showers we managed to run out to shoot portraits and family photos, and the fallen rain made for incredibly saturated colours in their photos. Beautiful.

The evening began with no formal first dance, just pure fun and joy dancing to awesome band Big in Brazil. What a great day, that suited them perfectly. Thank you guys!

“Cat was so helpful and lovely during the run up to the big day and on the day. We are
absolutely delighted with our photos, they are beyond perfect!”
- Jess & Graham
