Jeff & Sarah: Destination Vineyard Wedding at Castello Monaci, Italy

Jeff and Sarah’s day was one of the most exciting weddings I’ve ever photographed for two reasons: one, it was in the grounds of an Italian castle and two, it was a SURPRISE WEDDING!

Jeff and Sarah were visiting Castello Monaci on a wine tasting tour with friends and decided to add an unexpected twist to the trip by getting married there! Wedding planner Claire Clarke and I arrived to capture the wine tasting tour, under the cover that we were a photographer and writer covering the tasting for a magazine article. As somebody who isn’t a particularly good liar this was a bit of a challenge but it all went perfectly, with bride Sarah slipping out half way through the winery tour to get ready, and the tour group heading over to the Scuderie for dinner. It was then revealed that Sarah and Jeff would be getting married in just a few minutes, much to the joy and surprise of their guests!

Sarah walked down the aisle arm in arm with her friend Al, before she and Jeff exchanged vows in a heartfelt humanist ceremony lead by Douglas. It was beautiful and the secret plan couldn’t have gone any better, so huge props to Claire for making it happen so smoothly!

They enjoyed Castello Monaci’s own Prosecco on the poolside, before venue coordinator superstar Marco picked us up in a golf buggy so we could take photos around the castle and the vineyard. It was perfect.

As the sun set, everybody sat down for an outdoor dinner of exquisite Italian food, and they shared their toasts as Chinese lanterns from a nearby wedding lit up the sky. The perfect end to their day.

“Cat has the ability to understand how to get the best from you as a couple on a day when so much is going on. Her ability to capture in her photos the moment and the couples personality is wonderful. Cat helped make the memories of my wedding day, by laughing, helping and joining in while still being professional; it felt like a friend taking the photos. So very pleased we went with Cat, I’d recommend her in a heart beat.”

Frankie & Tom: Summer wedding at Abbey Hill Mercure, Milton Keynes

Watching the lovely Frankie & Tom get married was particularly special as I know Frankie from way back when at school! They were married at the Abbey Hill Mercure in Milton Keynes, and although their initial plan of an outdoor ceremony wasn’t possible due to the wind they were still able to make the most of a gorgeous Plan B indoors. Frankie walked down the red carpet with a huge smile on her face carrying a pastel bouquet of hydrangeas, nigella flowers and peonies, and I just love all the little excited looks exchanged between her and Tom throughout their ceremony!

After the ceremony, everybody spilled out onto the patio for drinks accompanied by music from a saxophonist, and we sneaked off onto the golf course for photographs. I’m completely in love with Frankie’s Justin Alexander dress, in the most delicate peachy pink colour with tulle flowing everywhere. She paired it with the coolest pair of sparkly Kate Spade Keds.. which I am not afraid to admit I am super jealous of! Tom took a unique twist on the morning suit by pairing his with a grey tweed waistcoat.

After speeches and dinner, they turned the lights down low for their first dance, before inviting their loved ones on to dance with them. Congratulations you two! It was such a privilege to photograph your day.

“Cat was amazing on the day, couldn’t have asked for a better photographer. She was patient, kind and full of bright ideas that will make remembering our wedding even more enjoyable. She took the time to get to know the wedding party, which produced better pictures in my opinion as everyone was comfortable and forgot the job she was there to do. Thanks Cat!”

Alice & John: Pretty Pastel Wedding at The Woodlands, Hothorpe Hall

Alice & John’s wedding brought along my first time shooting at their wedding venue:  The Woodlands at Hothorpe Hall. It’s a fab venue tucked away in the countryside and surrounded by cabins, so you really feel at home within your own little woodland paradise for the day.

Their pastel hued and rustic wedding was just lovely, with bouquets of peachy and pink roses, veronics and hydrangeas, and Alice’s bridesmaids in sky blue beaded dresses. Alice looked beautiful in her Ella Rosa dress with its button train detail and elegant silhouette.

The sun shone for them all day, maybe even one of the hottest weddings we’ve photographed! They left their ceremony under huge clouds of confetti, which guests picked up from a cute little confetti bar where they could choose which colour they fancied!

The grounds of the woodlands were perfect for portraits, filled with lots of greenery and wild flowers, and an awesome luxury tree house wedding suite. Alice & John enjoyed a quiet few moments away from the wedding madness before returning for speeches, wedding breakfast and an evening of dancing away to a fab band. Congratulations you two!

Bassmead Manor Barns: Spring 2018 Tasting Evening

This time last week I had the pleasure of being asked to photograph Bassmead Manor Barns' Spring tasting evening - a fab event put on for their future brides and grooms to try the menu, catch up with the staff and see the venue dressed up by their favourite suppliers.

I'm super honoured to be on their list as a recommended photographer - Bassmead is one of my all-time favourite venues to shoot at with its stunning Rickety Barn, beautiful light and scenery. And not forgetting the amazing staff and food of course - they're the first thing I mention when couples tell me they have chosen Bassmead for their wedding!

Big love to everybody involved in the making of this day - it was such a joy to photograph so many different vendors' talents and see such an exciting part of a bride and groom's planning process.

Annabel & Graham: Blossomy Spring Wedding at Quinton House School

Being asked to photograph a wedding is always a huge honour, but it's even more so when the groom is a talented photographer!

What I loved most about Graham & Annabel's day is that they designed it exactly the way they wanted, with a ceremony and intimate drinks reception in the morning at Rushden Park Hall for their closest friends and family before heading to the gorgeous Quinton House School for a humanist ceremony in front of their full set of guests.

Annabel walked down the aisle in the most elegant bespoke wedding dress, carrying a bouquet of ranunculus, freesias and grape hyacinths. I just love the big hall at Quinton House, it's so elegant but small enough to give a ceremony atmosphere. Humanist ceremonies are my favourite – they are so personal and really celebrate not only the love between the two of them but who the bride and groom are as people.

We were blessed with beautiful sunshine and the most abundant cherry blossom trees for their photographs, something I was ridiculously excited to see as we approached the venue in the car. And thanks to Graham & Annabel's special request I got to do something a little different - I brought my medium format camera along with me that day and shot some portraits on it!

Thank you both so much for the opportunity to photograph your beautiful day. I still can't get over the idea of having shot another photographer's wedding!

“Wow! We’re over the moon with our collection of photos - so many more than we imagined! We were up till the early hours of this morning looking through them all and have been at it again this evening! Thanks so much to you both for your hard work. From one photographer to another, I can tell you’ve done an amazing job and I shall be singing your praises for a long time to come.”
