Bassmead Manor Barns: Spring 2018 Tasting Evening

This time last week I had the pleasure of being asked to photograph Bassmead Manor Barns' Spring tasting evening - a fab event put on for their future brides and grooms to try the menu, catch up with the staff and see the venue dressed up by their favourite suppliers.

I'm super honoured to be on their list as a recommended photographer - Bassmead is one of my all-time favourite venues to shoot at with its stunning Rickety Barn, beautiful light and scenery. And not forgetting the amazing staff and food of course - they're the first thing I mention when couples tell me they have chosen Bassmead for their wedding!

Big love to everybody involved in the making of this day - it was such a joy to photograph so many different vendors' talents and see such an exciting part of a bride and groom's planning process.

Styled Shoot: Summer Blossom Boho

It's been a crazy week.. getting back from holiday, straight into the Bedford River Festival and then a shoot feature in Whimsical Wonderland Weddings! Eek! Here's my write up of the day that I shared with editor Lou about our work on this shoot.. enjoy!

A month of planning brought together 11 fantastic Bedfordshire-based wedding vendors, with makeup artist Ali K co-ordinating the majority of the shoot, from finding vendors, to collecting inspiration and even organising a location recce. As with all styled shoots, our focus was bringing wonderful vendors together to celebrate each others’ talents and hard work, and create beautiful images in the process!

Hairstylist Kate Atalay found us this beautiful farm to shoot on, and when we visited we knew it was the perfect location for the shoot. With a thatched summer house, woodland areas and a huge barn, it was meant to be. The day of the shoot turned out to be one of the hottest, sunniest days of the year so far and the cherry trees had even come into blossom – it was more perfect than any of us could have imagined.

On the day, wedding stylist Gemma at The White Emporium set up 5 beautiful scenes for us to shoot against, with a variety of wonderful rustic props and stunning, relaxed floral arrangements filled with whites, pinks and lots of greenery from Sarah at The Flower Hut. Our cake was provided by Helen at Sweetness and Delight, with beautifully detailed handmade icing flowers and a gold leaf tier. It was so exciting watching the shoot unfold as all the vendors arrived and set up. Our collective vision for the shoot was coming together and everything was beautifully cohesive in style.

Our beautiful models Georgia and Francesca were long time clients of our hair stylist Kate, and they were styled in dresses from George James Bridal, handmade headpieces by Love From Becky and ethical Fairtrade gold bridal jewellery by Arabel Lebrusan.

And to top it all off, the icing on the cake was well… ice cream! Mandy from Shake ‘n’ Scoop kindly brought along her amazing pallet wood ice cream shack and her incredible ice cream for everybody, including her popular cake batter flavour, which was an absolute hit!

We were so fortunate to have our entire shoot filmed by Adam from Up N Atom Weddings, whose behind the scenes video perfectly encapsulates the fun, relaxed vibe of our shoot and all the work that went into it. I can’t thank everybody involved enough for all of their hard work – it truly is a privilege to know and work with such talented people in our industry.

Styled Shoot: Blossom

Whilst we awaited the start of this year's wedding season, I really wanted to get back into the swing of things with a little styled shoot, set in the beautiful spring blossom in a local park.

On hair and makeup was the talented Ali, whose work perfectly embodied what I had in mind for the day, and modelling for us was the gorgeous Amy. As we are all based in Bedford, it really felt like a close knit collaboration and I am so grateful for their hard work on the day. It makes such a difference working with people you get on with so well, and the whole shoot was great fun. We ended up running in and out of Ali's car to dodge the intermittent rain, but chose to see the fun in it and stuck it out to get the pictures we wanted!

For the shoot we borrowed lots of lovely pieces from jewellery designers Arabel Lebrusan & Tessara. Arabel specialises in gorgeous ethical jewellery featuring Fairtrade gold and ethically-sourced diamonds, and Tessara's work features beautifully detailed sterling silver headpieces.

A huge thank you to everybody involved for such a great day - styled shoots are always a ton of fun and as always, I can't wait to organise my next one!

Styled Shoot: Snow Wedding Portraits

The snow started to fall at 10pm the night before, and I sat in front of the window watching it fall. It got me thinking about how much I'd love to shoot a snowy winter wedding, and how much of a shame it was that we'd not be able to find anybody to model in this snow for us before it all melted away the next day.

And then it hit me - why don't we just raid our own wardrobe, go out there in the morning and take some wedding pictures ourselves.. self-portrait style!

Styled Shoot: Charlie & Harvey at Chicheley Hall

As promised, here is a look at the finished photos from our styled shoot earlier this year.. I've been so excited to share these! If you missed it, click HERE to see this shoot published on the cover of Your Herts & Beds Wedding magazine.

On a sunny day at the beginning of April, a whole lot of Bedford-based wedding vendors joined forces at Chicheley Hall to work on a styled shoot, co-ordinated by wedding planner TJ of Weddings Rock My World. It was an enormous amount of fun and I feel so inspired to get out there and do more styled shoots. What a fantastic way to network with local vendors!

There are too many finished photos to share but below I've posted my absolute favourites.. I hope you like them! A big thank you to everybody involved in the creation of these pictures - your hard work is greatly appreciated and I really hope our paths cross again very soon in the future :-)
